Komekyu’s goal is to serve the most delicious rice in Kyushu prepared in the most delicious way possible. The rice is cooked in an earthen pot carefully selected by the head chef and paired with delicious toppings made with fresh ingredients from Kyushu. Find homelike comfort away from home. There’s nothing like a bowl of warm rice with something on the side to bring you peaceful happiness.
Just as the earthenware to cook rice was carefully selected, Komekyu also took the time to select plates that bring out the best in the food served.
Many of the plates used at Komekyu are created by Miyazaki potter Hiroshi Sato.
He uses wood ash in his glaze, and seashells from beaches in Miyazaki to make dyes.
His works are characterized by a lifestyle closely intertwined with nature, spending each day surfing, farming and pottering.
